The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been rampant.
The first season presents a large cast of personalities residing in the afterlife, sets them at odds with songs about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans make a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on October 29.
