Fall Classic Game 7 Draws 51M Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The exciting 11-inning clash where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined 51 million viewers across the United States, Canada, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball reported this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic finale since the 1991 contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Breakdown

Last Saturday’s memorable contest secured 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated World Series game after the 2017 Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, the fourth game was seventh, the fifth game came in 8th, and the third game landed in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game drew 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – recorded over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game World Series recorded 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the complete American viewership was over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent increase over the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in 16 different languages.
