Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.

This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.

Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as important members in the powerful family could help the group reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
